Chris Roppe, Superintendent

Dear Students, Parents, Educators, and Friends of Jeff Davis,

I am extremely honored and humbled to serve as the Superintendent of Schools in Jeff Davis County. Our vision is “To maintain a relentless pursuit of excellence as we prepare students for life.” This is a serious commitment and the staff members of JDCSS are determined to improve our community one student at a time.

I truly consider it a privilege to live and work in a community such as Hazlehurst. We are surrounded by quality staff members throughout our district who carry this same level of excellence to our students. The past year has seen a number of changes in the form of personnel in our schools. These changes include a number of new faces in the classrooms and in leadership positions. We have continually evaluated the personnel in our school system who create the “best fit” both for the individual and the students. We are excited about these changes and how they will impact our schools.

The district will continue to utilize the unique and diverse talents of its’ 410 employees to serve the educational needs of our 3,100 students. In addition to the staff at JDCSS, we are committed to establishing community partnerships that align to the values of our great community. The efforts outside the walls of the schools not only expand the opportunities for our students, but also broaden the minds of our future leaders. The partnership between our great employees and a dedicated community will take our schools to greatness.

We expect this greatness to continue outside the classroom as we support our extracurricular activities. Whether it is Friday night at the football field or in another state at the national FFA conference, our students carry the banner of JDCSS with pride. “Good is the enemy of great” is a quote I often use, and our coaches, directors, and sponsors exemplify this mindset and take pride in representing JD across the state and beyond.

Thank you for allowing me to serve you, our students, and our community. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me or any member of our staff.

Chris Roppe
