The Jeff Davis County School System works closely with our local emergency agencies and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (G.E.M.A) to provide a safe environment for our students, staff, parents, and visitors. Our committed partnership with these agencies helps to ensure our schools are prepared for an emergency.

Georgia law requires every school to develop and implement a wide-range safety plan that addresses acts of violence, of terrorism, natural disasters, hazardous materials, and radiological incidents. This plan serves as a guide to help staff and our public safety partners respond swiftly should a crisis occur in our schools. A major part of the safety plan is emergency drills. During the school year, our schools have practice drills. These drills help provide continuous planning and preparation to create a safe environment.

Please know the Jeff Davis County School System and our public safety partners are dedicated to making our schools safe. (Below are a few safety tips/rules provided by Hazlehurst Chief of Police, Ken Williams and Jeff Davis County Sheriff, Preston Bohannon).
